When a roller door makes sense
- Short driveways, where an up-and-over door would swing out over the car or the pavement
- Garages with low ceilings or roof beams, since sectional doors need track space under the ceiling
- Garages used for storage, where you want the ceiling space free
Things to weigh up
- Insulation: foam-filled aluminium slats are common. Ask for the U-value if you want to compare it with a sectional door.
- Box size: the roll needs a little headroom above or behind the opening.
- Manual override: check how the door opens in a power cut.
